Google Search is now more intelligent with ‘Knowledge Graph’
Google has upgraded its search engine with the new database which will enable user to get more accurate, sophisticated and comprehensive result. The new engine based on Knowledge Graph and which has a collection of around 500 million people, places and things and gathering vital information from online encyclopedia i.e. Wikipedia, the CIA Fact book and other related sources.
According to Amit Singhal, SVP Engineering Google, “The Knowledge Graph enables you to search for things, people or places that Google knows about—landmarks, celebrities, cities, sports teams, buildings, geographical features, movies, celestial objects, works of art and more—and instantly get information that’s relevant to your query. This is a critical first step towards building the next generation of search, which taps into the collective intelligence of the web and understands the world a bit more like people do”.
According to the Google blog post, Google knowledge graph enhances search in three main ways to start:
1. Find the right thing
Keywords which we use for searching can have more than one meaning and Google on there post gave the example of Taj Mahal which can be either the monument or Hotel Taj Mahal which we might be searching. Now Google Search is smart enough to understand the difference, and can narrow your search results just to the one you mean.
2. Get the Best Summary
With Google knowledge graph, Google can better understand our query and can relevant summarize the data around that topic and also gets the key data related to that. For example, if you’re looking for Marie Curie, you’ll see when she was born and died, but you’ll also get details on her education and scientific discoveries.
3. Get in Depth Summary
With in Depth Summary, Google Knowledge Graph will also fetch all the related information of what you have searched. User can watch the video released by Google. Also Google has released Knowledge Graph for Smartphones and tablet, you can get the further details here.
